The seventh-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will collide with the 12th-ranked Clemson Tigers in this year's Orange Bowl that is set to take place on Friday at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.

The Buckeyes, who were considered as one of the favorites heading into the season after their splendid 12-0 record last year, will look to erase the pain brought by their failure to reach the BCS national championship this year.

Ohio State, who was second in the Associated Press preseason poll, looked poise to take a spot in the national championship after sweeping their regular-season assignments, but their hopes ended after absorbing a surprising 34-24 loss to Michigan State last month.

"Obviously, we're not going to where we thought we were going or where we wanted to be going, but we're playing in the Orange Bowl and that's a big-time bowl game," Buckeyes offensive lineman Jack Mewhort told ESPN on their mindset heading into Friday's showdown.

Braxton Miller, who has shown improvements in his passing skills this year as proven by his 22 touchdown throws, is expected to take the spotlight for the Buckeyes. The 21-year-old quarterback has 1,860 passing yards this year, and he is also expected to surpass 2,000 rushing yards for the second-straight year.

On the other hand, Tigers QB Tajh Boyd is expected to pose serious threat to the Buckeyes in their upcoming collision. The senior QB passed for a total of 3,473 yards this season, while also having 29 touchdown passes to go along with nine touchdowns on the ground.

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer admitted that they are expecting a long night playing against Boyd along with his surrounding cast, including receiver Sammy Watkins, who has 1,237 yards on 85 catches along with 10 TDs this season.

"I've been watching Tajh Boyd play for many years now and I think he's transitioned from a good player to a great player," Meyer said on Boyd. "He's a dynamic thrower. And as with most excellent quarterbacks, his surrounding cast might be the best in America."

Clemson also had a strong start this season, winning their first six games. However, their BCS aspirations were thrown out the window after absorbing a humiliating 51-14 loss to the Florida State on Oct. 19.

TV Schedule and Live Stream

The highly-anticipated match between two of most prolific offensive teams in college football will kick off at 8 p.m. EST and will be broadcasted live on ESPN. Fans can also catch the action live through online streaming available on WatchESPN and also through the radio affiliates of the Buckeyes and the Tigers.

Friday's game will be the second Orange Bowl trip for the Buckeyes, who defeated Colorado in their only appearance in 1997. The Tigers, on the other hand, will be making their fifth appearance. Two years ago, Clemson absorbed a humiliating 70-33 loss to Virginia.
