If you've been disappointed that ABC's "Once Upon A Time" seemed to have forgotten Hercules and Meg for the past five seasons, thank the gods, they finally sent Hercules down to Storybrooke.
In a report by Bustle, newcomer Jonathan Whitesell and Kacey Rohl from "Hannibal" will be portraying the pair starting on the 13th episode of this season, titled "Labor of Love".
So what makes it awesome to have both Herc and Meg in the show?
For starters, Herc's got demigod powers and has super strength, so that's a plus. Also, Meg's own brand of sarcasm will be a breath of fresh air -- she is charming but full of cynicism and it makes sense that she's finally getting some screen time: she's as tough as women can get on Disney. Plus, she's hot. Well, she and Herc both are. Even animated Herc has "rippling pectorals", so imagine how it would translate live-action.
Unfortunately, Cinema Blend noted that Herc and Meg are currently slated to appear only in one episode, although considering how the show treats its characters, it is unlikely that they will die or stay dead in the series, they will come up again at some point -- Cruella De Vil did and everyone thought she's dead as dead can be.
"Labor of Love" does hint, however, that despite ABC following the Disney animation's story than the original Greek Mythology. However, there is a chance that they are putting more myth in it -- after all, Hercules had to go through twelve labors to prove his worth as a man and "Labor of Love", as Cinema Blend noted, may see him fight to prove his love for his dame.
With Herc's and Meg's Greek roots in OUAT, it may open up for more mythologies later on. Sure, the show has always been about Disney fairy tales, but they did explore other sources as well, like Oz and Camelot, which means that they could also open up to a Greek realm if Herc and Meg's storyline is a success on the show.
Oh, and in addition to Herc and Meg, TV Line also reported that Bailee Madison from "The Good Witch" will be reprising her role as a Young Snow White in the same episode - she last appeared on the show in March 2013.
"Labor of Love" will be the second episode to air after the show's winter break, so it will be a while before you can see a live-action Herc and Meg being cute together. But hey, good things are worth the wait, right?
"Once Upon a Time" airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
