When "The Good Wife" returns, Alicia will have some scathing words for her former colleague and ex, Will.
In a new clip released by TVLine from the drama's winter premiere, "Goliath and David," Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Cary (Matt Czuchry) want to represent a band that is suing a television show for copyright infringement.
The case quickly turns chaotic when Will (Josh Charles) joins the opposing counsel for Burl Preston (returning guest star F. Murray Abraham). Will tries to use his knowledge of Alicia's strengths and weaknesses against her, but Alicia is determined to take him down. Watch the clip here.
Also in the winter premiere, Eli (Alan Cumming) will hire Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) to snoop around and get more information about Marilyn (Melissa George).
Matthew Goode ("Watchmen," "Leap Year") will also join season five in a major recurring role. The British actor will play a prosecutor who befriends Alicia. They will hit it off because, like Alicia, he also decided to change the direction of his career. Goode recently finished production of the Pride and Prejudice spinoff "Death Comes to Pemberly," which will air on PBS next year. Ben Rappaport, who plays "Carey with an 'e'," will also be back for multiple episodes. TVLine reports that fourteenth episode of the fifth season will feature Florrick-Agos in a battle with Lockhart-Gardner to hire Rhona, a character who has yet to be cast. The character is in her 40s, and is described as "a polished, hyper-competent and successful partner at a top law firm" who has a lucrative client roster. The episode will also feature flashbacks to season one, in which Lorraine, a fortysomething partner at a top law firm, will call Alicia in for a job interview. However, she is only interested in Peter's (Chris Noth) recent arrest. Another guest appearance will be the character of Howard, a "bashful human resources manager" who extends an offer to Alicia as a paralegal, not a lawyer.
"Goliath and David" will air Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
