You can't really say that Azealia Banks is one who will take the heat when someone she feels wronged her, but this time, it looks like her brash take landed her on hot water.
According to TMZ, Banks is the target of a criminal investigation for beating down a security guard who was kicking her out of a club. Banks and her friends were said to be partying at Break Room 86 in LA late last month, and security told her to leave when she started getting quite unruly. So much so that security claimed she even tried pulling the fire alarm, and started pounding on the security guard when she was stopped from tinkering the control valves. The grainy video obtained by TMZ showed a man pulling her away, before a group surrounded him.
However, the criminal battery probe is not clear whether or not this will mean jailtime for the rapper.
The news comes just a day after Banks announced the cancellation of her tour and the second time in a matter of months to do so. According to Banks, the reason for said cancellation is that she's "very busy" at work, although she claimed that she will be back onstage by January.
It' not clear whether or not the police investigation had anything to do with the said cancellation, however, there are other theories surrounding that as well, including a catty catfight on Twitter with co-headliner K. Michelle, who dropped out of the tour, as pointed out by Philly News. Michele had been adamant about herself and Banks that there was "absolutely no drama" between them.
The Daily Mail noted that right now, the openly bisexual rapper is more known for her feuds than for her output in music. She has been involved in several spats with several big stars including Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora, ASAP Rocky, Lily Allen, Lady Gaga, Iggy Azalea, Action Bronson, T.I. and Pharrell.
It is not clear why Banks act the way she does, although she pointed out in a previous interview (as recalled by the Daily Mail), that she has had a violent upbringing, blaming her parents for her equally violent tendencies, saying, "After my dad died, my mom became really abusive - physically and verbally. Like she would hit me and my sisters with baseball bats, bang our heads up against walls, and she would always tell me I was ugly. I remember once she threw out all the food in the fridge, just so we wouldn't have anything to eat."
Do you think this is an excuse for her violent behavior?
