"Burnt" star Sienna Miller vies for the role of "Captain Marvel" and she is not ashamed about the fact that she knows nothing of the character.
The powerful heroine appears to be one of the most coveted roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as yet another actress admitted to wanting to portray the character.
While talking with MTV about her new movie with Bradley Cooper, the 33-year-old actress, model and fashion designer was asked whether she would like to play the female superhero in a film.
"Captain Marvel? Is that a girl?" she asked, obviously caught by surprise with the question.
After being enlightened about the heroine, she immediately said that she would be up for the role provided it has a "good script."
Though she did not exactly have any idea who the character is, Miller still went on to say that she would love to play the role.
"I'm not someone who read a lot of comics and I don't really know that world particularly well...but I think it would be quite fun -- for my kid as well. She'd like it," she added.
According to the official Marvel database, the "Captain Marvel" of the comic books is named Carol Danvers, a five-foot-11 skilled pilot who is skillful in hand to hand combat and is formerly affiliated with Queen's Vengeance before she joined the Avengers.
Her superpowers include enhanced strength, durability, flight and the ability to shoot energy charges from her hands.
Cinema Blend noted the "American Sniper" actress did have a resemblance to the character in the comic books and has the necessary credits on her resumé which includes playing The Baroness in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra."
Despite this, Miller still has a long way to go if she really wants the role since there are already so many actresses that fans believe would fit the role best including Rebecca Ferguson and Emily Blunt.
There are also those who have previously campaigned for it including MMA fighter Ronda Rousey, Canadian actress Katheryn Winnick and "Tron: Legacy" star Olivia Wilde.
"Captain Marvel" is Marvel's first and only scheduled female-led solo film so it is imperative that the studio chooses the right actress for the role.
In any case, they still have enough time to thoroughly screen these actresses since the film is not due in theaters until March 2019.
However, Cinema Blend noted that there may be a chance that the chosen "Captain Marvel" would be appearing in other Marvel flicks like the Avengers which makes the stakes a lot higher for the studio.
