A mysterious bright light was seen emerging in the sky of California on the late Saturday evening and people quickly assumed it was a form of missile attack. Californians went into a panic and promptly brought their assumptions and theories to social media.

According to BBC, the brightness was seen travelling fast over the Orange County and the neighboring place. A sheriff from the said land claimed that the light was from "a naval test fire" made off the California coastline.

In which, the aviation officials warned the public with a possible US military activity. A video posted online showed a flare of light rising high and wide in a bright blue flash forming a cone shape and, many videos surfaced tracking the light for several minutes.

"A mysterious light that streaked across San Diego's night sky Saturday, visible as far away as Nevada and Arizona, was a Trident missile test-fired by the Navy," San Diego Union Tribune confirmed.

"Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted the scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight at sea from the Kentucky, an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California," a Navy spokesman said.

"The test was part of a scheduled, on-going system evaluation test," Commander Ryan Perry with the Navy's Third Fleet explained. He added that the launched was done on a "frequent, recurring basis" to guarantee that the missile's system is still working properly and consistently.

"Each test activity provides valuable information about our systems, thus contributing to assurance in our capabilities," he said in a statement. However, they promised that the rocket was harmless for it was unarmed and SSP intentionally doesn't announce the testing.

Moreover, law agencies and news media outfits in San Diego got a bunch of calls from the concern and worrying citizens who saw the luster. Some quickly connected it as a flare, to a comet and to a nuclear bomb.

However, while the officials said it was "unarmed" Natural News added that they failed to say it still has a "thermonuclear warhead." Media and the public are not even sure if it was really safe as U.S. Navy itself knows the truth and they believe they won't say things to scare people.

Reuters reported that Los Angeles airport will not entertain in and out nighttime flights to avoid passing over the Pacific Ocean, but just the west of the airport as U.S. military activated airspace there. However, FAA and the military didn't give any further details about the activities happening near the second-busiest U.S. airport.
