The Houston Rockets are reportedly exploring the possibility of moving both point guard Jeremy Lin and center Omer Asik in a three-team trade with the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks, multiple sources reported earlier this week.
The Rockets have already expressed their intentions of trading Asik ever since the Turkish center demanded the team's front office deal him out of Houston as soon as possible.
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tried to hook up with several ball clubs for the last two months, but no Asik trade materialized, likely due to the Rockets' steep asking price (two first-round picks) for the center.
The Boston Celtics have made a number of attempts to bring in the defensive-oriented big man. But Celtics general manager Danny Ainge was unsuccessful in pulling off the huge deal.
Three-Team Blockbuster Deal
According to Sports Illustrated Fan-Sided, the Rockets, the Hawks, and the Bulls have reportedly discussed a trade involving multiple players and draft picks with Lin and Asik as the centerpiece of the blockbuster deal.
Fox Sports reported that the Bulls inquired about Lin's availability and asked the Rockets if they were interested in receiving incoming free agent forward Luol Deng in exchange for the former Harvard hotshot. The potential trade would also see the Hawks finally landing a defensive big man in Asik, who was viewed by scouts as one of the most imposing defensive players in the league.

Lin Running With The Bulls
With Derrick Rose sitting out for the remainder of the season due to a torn MCL injury, the Bulls immediately addressed their need at the point guard spot by signing D.J. Augustin, who was waived by the Toronto Raptors earlier this season.
Augustin averaged 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds for his new team, but Lin's ability to carry the scoring load and facilitate the ball efficiently would solve the Bulls' backcourt woes until D-Rose makes his return next season.
On the other hand, the Hawks would get a legitimate rim protector after losing Josh Smith to free agency and Al Horford to injury. Asik's presence would also allow Paul Millsap to slide into his natural small forward position.
Finally, the Rockets would receive a serviceable two-way player in Deng should the trade happen. Deng, who averaged 19.6 points and 7 boards per game, could provide the Rockets with a perimeter defender and a solid scorer at the wing.
