Despite the absence of FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi, Barca forwards Luis Suarez and Neymar led the team to a 3-0 victory versus BATE on Wednesday.
Fox Sports reported that Neymar was able to score twice while Suarez sealed a goal to take their team closer to the Champions League knockout rounds starting next Wednesday.
It noted that the team's star Messi has been out of the game because of a torn left-knee ligament sustained last Sept. 26. His absence, however, did not stop the two other players to contribute a combined 18 goals of the 21 total goals of the team.
Messi is expected to be out of the games until the November 21 Clasico matchup but Barca is putting its hopes on its two other star players, as per Daily Mail.
According to Goal.com, Suarez and Neymar put an effort early on the game. "They passed up early openings before Marc-Andre ter Stegen did well to stop the Belarusian side taking a shock lead by keeping out a free-kick from Igor Stasevich," added the same report.
The opposing team was reportedly able to win a penalty with the coming of Munir El Haddadi, who replaced injured Ivan Rakitic.
"He cut in from the right touchline and passed to Suarez. When he gave it back to Munir he was bundled over by Filip Mladenovic and referee Istvan Vad pointed to the spot," noted Daily Mail.
But BATE's efforts still did not level up to Barca's winning performance which highlighted Suarez's and Neymar's skills.
Both players, who showed exemplary performance during their recent games, had something good to say about each other.
"Right now Leo is missing and that adds to the need for us strikers to connect whenever possible. If you play next to a footballer of the great quality of 'Ney' then, obviously, you enjoy the games and the partnership a great deal more. Beyond winning it's obviously very satisfying to help the team with assists and goals," Suarez said in a UEFA report.
For his part, Neymar said that all their efforts were geared towards winning the game.
"We played a winning game - we got the goals we required against a well-organised team. For that third goal I had to race at top speed to get there but what was vital was that Luis gave me an absolutely magnificent pass," the Brazilian footballer noted.
This is just a testament that the team can still stand even without Messi's contribution but fans are still hoping that the Barca star could play alongside Suarez and Neymar soon.
