Recent reports are claiming that the iPad Air 3 will be as powerful as the iPad Pro but might be released at a much later date.

iPad Air 3 - Specs and Features

Alphr claimed from Chinese tech site MyDrivers that the iPad Air 3 will come with a 9.7-inch screen size with 4K resolution of 2334 x 3112 pixels. If this turns out to be true, then the tablet will have a better display than its predecessor, which has 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution.

Other expected specs in the iPad Air 3 are between 2GB and 4GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel primary camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and Apple's latest A9 or A9X processor powering the device, Alphr further reported from MyDrivers. The tablet is also rumored to be at 5mm thick, with an IP rating for water and dust resistance included in the device.

The news outlet also noted that the iPad Air 3's battery capacity will "see a reduction from the 7,340mAh cell on the iPad Air 2."

iPad Air 3 - Release Date and Price

According to Alphr's report citing MyDrivers, the iPad Air 3 is expected to be released in March 2016. Supposedly, this move was done to avoid overloading customers with different variations of the iPad, especially now that the iPad Pro will be hitting store shelves this month just in time for the holiday season.

The iPad Air 3 might have a starting price of $599, Vine Report speculated. Its predecessors, the iPad Air and iPad Air 2, can be bought starting at $399 and $499, respectively. Color options could be the same as past iPad models: silver, gold, and space gray.

Vine Report also referred to the declining iPad sales as the probable cause of the delay of the iPad Air 3. The tablet's third quarter sales only reached 10.9 million sold units, which is 19 percent lower year on year. Until the tech giant knows how well the iPad Pro and iPad mini 4 perform in the market, Apple is probably shifting gears and "is putting the future of the iPad Air on hold indefinitely," Alphr wrote.

Take note that these are all speculations for now and Apple is yet to issue an official statement about the iPad Air 3.

iPad Pro - Specs, Features, and Price

The iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch screen display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048. Other specs are: an A9X processor chip, an 8MP iSight primary camera, a 1.2MP front-facing shooter, a four-speaker audio system, and a 10-hour battery life, Macworld listed. The tablet has a base price of $1044.
