Up-and-coming boxing sensation Mikey Garcia is being tossed about as perhaps the next opponent for reigning and undefeated WBO Welterweight Champion Timothy Bradley, a reliable source stated on Tuesday.

Fresh off claiming a world championship belt in the super featherweight division, Garcia might be preparing for his biggest test yet as ESPN boxing insider Brian Campbell believed the undefeated Californian slugger has emerged as a name to be reckoned with in the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions in the coming years.

"If he [Bradley] comes out of 2014 unbeaten and Floyd is on the other side of the fence equally unbeaten, than no question Bradley will have a big problem," Campbell said during a chat session on ESPN Sports nation. 

"A fight with him against Rios or Alvarado doesn't really make any sense, neither does a rematch with Pacquiao if you ask me. There is Pacquiao for him and there is a Provodnikov rematch unless, by then, Mikey Garcia has entered the picture," he added.

Mikey Enters The Picture

Garcia has been an outstanding prospect for the past couple of years in the featherweight division. A fourth round TKO victory over former bantamweight titlist Juan Manuel Lopez further increased his stock despite being stripped of his WBO Featherweight belt for exceeding the weight limit.

In his first-ever bout at the super featherweight division, Garcia easily dispatched tough guy Roman Martinez as he knocked him out in the eighth round to win the WBO Super Featherweight title and become a two-division champion at the age of 26.

Conditioning guru Alex Ariza, who helped Manny Pacquiao become an eight-division world champion, believed Garcia has the tools to be successful as he moved up in weight like his former prized fighters.

"I've seen what happened to Manny, especially physically...with how he went to the next level...I'm seeing Mikey doing the same...he's only going to get bigger, stronger...start moving down the divisions," Ariza talked about Garcia's chances of becoming a multi-division world champ during an interview with Fight Hype.

Bradley, on the other hand, is coming off another split-decision squeaker against Juan Manuel Marquez in November. Before his tussle with the Mexican legend, Bradley also engaged in a brutal 12-round slugfest against Ruslan Provodnikov.

According to Campbell, a rematch with Pacquiao, Marquez and even Provodnikov might be not ideal for Bradley because he has already proven that he can stand toe-to-toe with different kind of boxers. Instead, a showdown against a rising star like Garcia would be a rewarding match for Bradley, who's still asking for more respect from boxing fans.
