Hacktivist group Anonymous has made good on their word to expose members of the Ku Klux Klan, especially those who have infiltrated police departments of the government.

It's been a year since the #OpKKK, and Anonymous has started publishing personal details of the members of the KKK --- their own move to campaign against the white supremacist hate group.

A few days ago, the hacktivist group promised that they will expose 1,000 members of the KKK by the middle of November and has stated via Twitter that they made a small list of politicians to be released in four different listings. So far, they have released 56 phone numbers and 23 email addresses via text-sharing website, Pastebin.

However, the KKK in turn has promised counter protests against Anonymous. Anonymous refused to back down, saying in an official statement, "After closely observing so many of you for so very long, we feel confident that applying transparency to your organizational cells is the right, just, appropriate and the only course of action. You are abhorrent. Criminal. You are more than extremists. You are more than a hate group. You operate much more like terrorists and you should be recognized as such."

Just before the group released their list of phone numbers and emails, Huffington Post noted that another Twitter user by the name "Amped Attacks" tweeted a link to a Pastebin article that accused several US Senators and Mayors of being part of the KKK. However, he noted that he is not linked to Anonymous or any other activist group.

Anonymous, in turn, distanced itself from Amped Attacks, noting that they "won't release names w/out due diligence. We discourage the circulation of disinfo & will not promote an unverifiable list of politicians."

Already, one politician has been named on the list: Mayor Kent Guinn of Ocala Florida. However, the group was unable to publish support of their accusation, and Guinn denied such allegation, although, in the same tweet, it was noted that police is already investigating the case.

Other politicians in the list include Madeline Rogero, Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jim Gray, Mayor of Lexington, Kentucky. The Examiner also noted that many high-profile Republicans were also in the list, including Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina, John Cornyn of Texas, Dan Coats of Indiana, and Johnny Isakson of Georgia.

Anonymous has since denied releasing this information, stating that the release was not from the group itself, but rather, from a single member. That being said, the recently released list remains unverified. The official list of KKK members will still be released on November 5.
