Here are five of the most outstanding Android flagships expected next year.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Samsung's next flagship is continually gaining buzz as months pass by. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which is rumored for a January 2016 release date, is expected to have Samsung's AMOLED display and impressive cameras, Tech Times wrote. The device is said to have a sleek design and curved screen for the S7 Edge.

In addition, a report that surfaced this week from SamMobile via Samsung's popularly leaky Vietnamese supply chain said that the Galaxy S7 will come in three variants.

LG G5

The LG G5 will reportedly bring smartphone biometric security to new heights by making the very first handset to be equipped with an iris scanner, Tech Times wrote. The company is working with biometrics firm Irience to make this tech.

Other expected features to be equipped in the LG G5 are: the latest Qualcomm processor at the time of its release, a 21-megapixel camera capable of shooting videos and images in 4K, a 4000 mAh battery, and a removable battery that can be charged wirelessly, the news outlet listed.

Xiaomi Mi5

Xiaomi's upcoming smartphone, the Mi5, is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will have a 5.2-inch display, a 16-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a USB Type-C port, Tech Times further listed.

WCCF Tech reported that the Chinese manufacturer is planning to equip the Mi5 with a fingerprint sensor.

HTC One M10

There are no concrete reports about the HTC One M10 yet, but rumors said that the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM. Since its predecessor has a 20.7-megapixel camera, it's possible that the One M10 will have a bigger sensor, perhaps at 27 megapixels, Tech Times wrote. The device's battery is expected to be at 3,500 mAh, with the 64 GB and 128 GB storage models expandable via microSD.

Recent reports also claimed that HTC's new smartphone will not be called the One M10, and will instead bear the name HTC O2, according to Phones Review.

Asus ZenFone 3

Tech Times wrote that the Asus ZenFone 3 will not likely "veer away from the build quality, while still keeping the price at an accessible range for many users, an even more important consideration now that carriers are moving away from subsidized phones toward monthly installments paid for by customers."

Not much is known about the upcoming smartphone, but Asus chief Jonney Shih confirmed that it will have a USB Type-C port, the news outlet added.
