The much anticipated follow up to 'Kingdom Hearts 2' might be on its way come Christmas time if rumors are to be believed. The new 'Kingdom Hearts 3' installment is reportedly on its last stages of production.
In a report with Movie Pilot, recent Disney movies will be appearing in the latest installment of 'Kingdom Hearts'. These include the likes of big successes such as "Tangled," "Big Hero 6" and "Frozen." There are even speculations that some of the new worlds will include "Wreck-It Ralph," "The Princess and the Frog," and even some Pixar movies.
Gamespot noted the use of a rocket launcher in the stills which lead to the speculation that Rocket Raccoon from "Guardians of the Galaxy" might be making an appearance in the next installment of the series. Additionally, due to its popularity "Frozen" will also be seen in "Kingdom Hearts 3." Sora will be joining Elsa and Anna in order to save Arendelle from Hans.
Another new world possibility is seen in the Star Wars franchise since "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be released in December of this year.
This year's Kingdom Hearts might also feature some characters from the Final Fantasy franchise. Previous characters who have made their appearances include Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Aerith Gainsborough, Tifa Lockhart, Yuffie Kisaragi, Cid Highwind, and Zack Fair. Additionally, both Cloud and Sephiroth have also been featured in boss fights.
In a report with Games TM, Tetsuya Nomura revealed that he was hesitant at first to return to the franchise but he came to use the tensions as a source of inspiration for his creativity. In the interview, Nomura admitted that Disney being "franchise oriented" there was some sort of pressure to keep the franchise going.
"This should be something that can't be accomplished by just Disney. It has to be something uniquely Kingdom Hearts. So it's a matter of how long can I keep creating for Kingdom Hearts! I don't know if the fans would enjoy it as much if it was just Disney, if it wasn't a combination of Disney and my own creativity." Nomura said.
Motoring Crunch also reported that new characters will be added to the latest installment. In an interview with the game director, he could not confirm or deny the rumor of new characters.
It is unclear as of now if "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be in shelves by this December. The game continues to be highly anticipated and will certainly be welcome news should it hit stores before Christmas.
