Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have officially called it quits. The former couple were married for two years before filing for divorce.

According to People Magazine, both Berry and Martinez have cited irreconcilable differences and have listed their date of separation on Monday. They only publicly announced their divorce on Tuesday. The former couple also added that the divorce was a mutual decision on their part and that they maintain love and respect for one another for the sake of their son.

"We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son." they said in a joint statement.

The publication also says that Martinez is seeking for spousal support following the divorce once the papers have been sorted out. Berry, on the other had has not asked for any spousal support. The actress had earlier stated that all of her earnings and assets belong to her as part of their prenuptial agreement.

Berry and Martinez are both seeking joint custody of their son, Maceo-Robert. The pair had first met on the set of "Dark Tide: in 2010 and were married in July 13, 2013. Their 2-year-old son was born on Oct. 5, 2013. According to Berry's filing, Martinez will be providing transportation for visits and shall need to ask permission in order to take Maceo out of California.

Us Magazine reported that this is the French actor's first divorce, while this is Berry's third. Berry was previously married to R&B singer Eric Benet in 2001 and baseball player David Justice in 1993.

A source for People Magazine also said that Martinez had a bad temper and that he was "unhappy in Los Angeles". Berry had earlier planned to raise their children in Europe, but could not get custody of her daughter Nahla (her daughter with previous boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry). According to the report, Berry is still caught in a custody battle over her daughter.

"He has a violent temper," said the source of Martinez.

The source for People Magazine also added that the relationship had taken its course and that their personalities just both collided. The source said that both Berry and Martinez are trying to keep things in civil terms of the sake of their son.

Martinez was caught assaulting an LAX employee with a baby seat earlier in the year and is now being sued by the employee for $5M.
