Microsoft is bent on convincing MacBook loyalists to switch to a Surface Book.

The tech giant recently unveiled a campaign that boasts easier transition from a MacBook laptop to a Surface Book. Microsoft is hopeful that the Surface Book's specs and hardware can attract even the most devout Apple users.

Microsoft lays out Windows 10 basics in their campaign, as well as how to move photos, videos, and files from a MacBook device to the Surface Book; and how to use the hybrid laptop-tablet with iPhone, iCloud, and iTunes.

Company head Panos Panay claimed that "ounce for ounce, Surface Book is the best laptop ever created," and that the device has a remarkable 30 percent gain in performance in contrast to Apple's flagship laptop, Tech Radar reported.

In its campaign, Microsoft presented how to complete certain tasks, such as gestures for scrolling, for potential switchers. MacBook users had to use two fingers to click down on the trackpad to perform a right click, but in the Surface Book, they only have to click the bottom right corner of the trackpad (or two-finger tap) to bring up a menu onscreen, Microsoft's website wrote.

Microsoft also highlighted Windows substitutions to OS X. Windows' Skype is an alternative to Mac's FaceTime and iMessage; Microsoft Edge can be used instead of Apple's Safari for web browsing; and the Windows Store against the Mac App Store.

Microsoft's biggest advantage over Apple is its detachable tablet, allowing users to have a single device that combines a laptop and a tablet. Business owners can benefit from this, given that this could result in "savings in hardware cost and the reduction of time spent managing files between two devices," Tech Radar wrote.

None of Apple's notebooks have a touchscreen, and the company doesn't offer convertible devices running the OS X. The iPad Pro has a convertible form factor, but the tablet only supports the mobile-centric iOS, the news outlet noted.

Surface Book Specs

The Surface Book has a 13.5-inch PixelSense display that can be detached easily from the keyboard to transform into a light and thin tablet that works well with OneNote and Surface Pen, Tech Insider wrote. The device can function up to 12 hours, weighs 3.48 pounds (1,576 grams), and has a dimension of 12.3 inches long, 9.14 inches wide, and 0.51- to 0.9-inches deep.

It also has two USB 3.0 ports, a full size SD card reader, Mini DisplayPort, an 8MP primary camera, a 5MP front-facing shooter, front and rear-facing dual microphones, and front-facing stereo speakers with Dolby audio, Tech Insider listed. The Surface Book starts selling at $1,499.
