In an invite-only questionnaire that allows PlayStation players to rate the most important features of a game (based on a list), Neogaf user Saint of Killers took the opportunity to share the details, which included things likefriend online notifications, appearing offline, custom backgrounds and PSN ID Changes.
The new PlayStation4 update, codenamed Kenshin, also introduced several UI enhancements and brand new features, including Request to Share Play and Broadcast, which allows for gamers to watch a friend play or try out a game.
So what is there to know about this new "Request to Share" feature?
It's pretty simple. As noted by Tech Radar, to share your game, simply hit the "Share" button on the control pad and the menu where the "Share to Play" feature will appear. After that, it is all in the matter of sending out an invitation to someone from their friend list.
Share Play also allows players to let their friends take control of the game that they're playing as well as to watch their in-game progress. As noted, it lets players invite their friends to play- whether cooperatively or competitively. However, what's interesting is that it does not need for both players to own the game in order to have a shared session.
Here are other features of the new PlayStation update, as announced by the official PlayStationwebsite.
Events - the Events app, which will be accessible on the PS4 home screen, gives an overview of the activities taking place in the games as well as official broadcasts. Registering on the Events app also enables users to utilize auto-boot functionality to set the PS4 automatically to launch the game and Event at the start time.
Communities - The update will allow for more social gaming. On games' live detail page, players will be able to access Communities. Users will be able to create and join based on their shared interests. Communities also come with message boards and general discussions, as well as screenshots, and games and party invitations.
Social Media Connections - PlayStation4 also allows for sharing video clips to Twitter, livestream directly from the PS4 to YouTube and live from PlayStation, which keeps up with the hottest gaming trends by way of watching the most popular broadcasts, video clips, and even screenshots uploaded from around the world.
Oh, and as a bonus, there will also be stickers available for the PS4 Messages app. Said stickers will contain those themed around Uncharted 4, Knack, Little Big Planet and more.
