Chicago Bears defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff is out of the team following instances of heated exchanges with Bears general manager Ryan Pace.

The Chicago Tribune said that the Ratliff's release was a surprise to the football community since he was regarded was one of the Bears' best defensive lineman.

Sources said in the same report that emotional verbal exchanges at the Halas Hall on Wednesday, changed everything for Ratliff.

"We felt moving forward without Jeremiah was in the best interest of our team. We appreciate his contributions and wish him well," said Pace in a release quoted by Chicago Tribune.

On Wednesday, Bears officials reportedly ruled Ratliff as not fit to work when he arrived at the team headquarters in Lake Forest. The team reportedly ordered the defensive lineman to go home but that was when things got nasty.

A Chicago Tribune source said that Ratliff came back to the Halas Hall two times and had "another intense vocal altercation with Pace outside the facility before being sent home again."

The police were reportedly called to the place of the incident as a "safety measure."

In addition, NFL.com said that the police eventually escorted Ratliff out of the team facility.

With his absence, the player will be replaced by former Pittsburgh Steelers 2009 first-round pick Ziggy Hood, who has played 16 games in each of his first six seasons with the league.

He will be playing alongside young players like Will Sutton, Jarvis Jenkins and rookie Eddie Goldman, who are expected to help the team win more games this season.

This is not the first time that Ratliff got involved in a verbal altercation in the NFL as AL said that he also had a confrontation with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones three years ago. Ratliff got offended with Jones' comment that the Cowboys needed him after he missed a few games because of injuries.

In 2013, the Cowboys released him after he was placed in the physically-unable-to-perform list after suffering a hamstring injury.

Last year, he was also guided by a team security after a practice disturbance, as per Sports Illustrated. Then in April, he was barred from playing the first three games of the season since he pleaded guilty to a DWI (driving while intoxicated) charge during an incident that happened way back Jan. 2013.

AL added that Ratliff was also not able to join the fourth game of the regular season after he sustained an ankle injury towards the end of the preseason.
