The first Friday Night Smackdown of 2014 kicks off with a bang, with the Usos defeating Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins of The Shield via disqualification after United States Champion Dean Ambrose interfered in the match to help beat down on the two siblings. CM Punk, who has had his problems with "Hounds of Justice" throughout 2013, ran down the ring to even up the odds for against The Shield, forcing Smackdown general manager Vickie Guerrero to come out to the stage and scheduled a six-man tag team match pitting The Usos and CM Punk against The Shield in the main event.
R-Truth defeated Fandango, using Fandango's own trick against him, after The Funkadactyls (Naomi and Cameron of E!'s Total Divas show) distracted Fandango long enough for R-Truth to recover and earn the victory.
Renee Young interviewed Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston backstage, who addressed Brock Lesnar's return to the WWE on Monday Night Raw. Lesnar made a statement decimating Mark Henry with an F5 outside the ring on Monday Night Raw, with the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champ mauling "The World's Strongest Man" to mark his return as the Royal Rumble quickly approaches. Langston, angry his friend was attacked, challenged the former WWE champion to match on the first Raw edition of 2014.
WWE Tag Team champions, Goldust and Cody Rhodes, defeated Luke Harper and Erick Rowan of The Wyatt Family.
E! Total Diva cast-member Nikki Bella beat Askana in singles competition.
Big E Langston made an example of former "Heyman Guy" Curtis Axel, sending a message to Paul Heyman's client, Brock Lesnar, nailing Axel with the Big Ending to score the pin.
In the main event, CM Punk and the Usos defeated The Shield - United States Champion Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns - in a six-man tag team bout, with CM Punk hitting Ambrose with his GTS finisher for the pin-fall and the victory to end the show.
