Deep Down is one of the many exclusive games Sony is preparing for PlayStation 4 owners in 2014, and now a new preview of the game sheds some light on the dungeons found in the game and its shared world aspects.
Weekly Famitsu has an extensive look at the game, translated by Dualshockers, that reveals that, much like Demon Souls and Dark Souls, Deep Down will have shared world areas where players from all over the world can connect with each other. Players will be able to leave messages for others that will be readable by others when they go through the same area. In addition, a player who dies in the dungeon will have their corpse show up in the dungeon, and different players can loot their corpses for valuables. It is unclear if players will lose all their items if they are looted or if the grave robbers will just receive copies of their equipment.
Players will also be able to shape dungeons by using feelings, also known as Mementos. The Mementos found in the levels of the game will not just change the way the areas look, but they will be able to enhance weapons and armor with them as well.
Sony also released a new description of the story found in Deep Down, revealing what players will be able to expect from the game once it is released.
"The stage of the story is New York in 2094. A member of the Ravens with the ability to read the residual thoughts that dwell on items earns his livings by clarifying the story from archaeological sites of ancient cultures. At one point in an excavation in the Czech Republic some ruins from the late 15th century are found. The presence of a mysterious city and the memories of an ancient civilization can be found in the site. The hero receives the request to investigate the ruins and to read its memories," said Sony in a press release.
Finally, a new weapon has been revealed for the game, joining the sword and shield combination that players can use along with a spear. Great swords have been shown to be useable in the game, and players can damage enemies tremendously with the massive two-handed blades.
