Details for the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts III" has finally come to light, the first being that the return of the franchise marks the beginning of its return to its roots on consoles. According to Design & Trend, there have been talks that big changes may be in store for the game, among which includes multiple playable characters and multiplayer gameplay.

The outlet has discovered that there is a big possibility for "Kingdom Hearts III" to focus on other characters as well as the series' main protagonist, Sora. Last month, a Square Enix employee mentioned in a LinkedIn profile about "multiplayer planning" for the upcoming installment. Director Tetsuya Nomura also mentioned that "maybe something's going on" to bring multiple playable characters in the game.

The two concepts may not be necessarily linked, however they are similar in such a way that they suggest departure from the typical "Kingdom Hears" conventions, which abides by an age-old formula. The implementation of these concepts could either enhance or diminish the magic of the game, depending on players' perspectives.

However, judgment on that can be reserved until the game can be experienced, which could be as soon as November. A report by iDigital Times said that the third installment of the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise may be coming sooner than expected, with reports from Gematsu and Dengeki pointing out that announcements are going to be made soon.

But then again, "Kingdom Hears" may be merely announcing the roster of new characters that will be added to the game. Already revealed are the cast of "Big Hero 6", which included Baymax and Hiro, who will both help Sora face off his nemeses. However, "Big Hero 6" and "Tangled" are the only announced worlds to be added to the game.

And then there are the game theories. For this installment, fans have concluded that based on their designs, Sora and Roxas may be connected to each other, although at this point, this speculation is based entirely on rumors, unless you count the fact that in "Kingdom Hearts 3D" Sora has absorbed Roxas into his body and gained access to his memories.

That being said, all fans should await for official news before drawing their own conclusions about the game. "Kingdom Hearts III" is planned on being released on PS4 and Xbox One, further cementing that they want to go back to their roots in console.

Do you think "Kingdom Hearts" should have multiple characters, or will it be better to have the new characters be single-player only?
