Lea Michele has released a powerful new single off her upcoming debut album, "Louder."
E! Online reports that the "Glee" star released the song "Battlefield" on Friday, which is the second track off the solo album.
The single shows Michele's vocal power and emotional depth, which she has showcased both in her "Glee" and Broadway roles. The upcoming album is Michele's first foray into pop music.
The 27-year-old singer sent out a tweet in honor of the new release. "Eye to eye we face our fears unarmed on the battlefield..." the singer tweeted.
"Battlefield" is a sorrowful piano ballad about the ending stage of a relationship.
"What seemed like a good idea has turned into a battlefield," Michele sings. "We both know it's coming/does ill usion count for something?...You and I/we have to let each other go/peace will come/when one of us puts down the gun."
Before releasing the new single, she spent the holidays in relaxation mode.
Michele said was going to put her "feet up, recharge, relax and breath in some fresh air" after a busy couple weeks promoting her first single off the new album, "Cannonball."
Michele proved she was relaxing by sharing a photo of her hike in California after Christmas.
"Christmas in California:) #freshair #hike #nature," she captioned under the photo on Thursday, Dec. 26.
Michele's solo album, "Louder," will be released on March 4.
