Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" will be entering its 14th and final season as the Adam Savage-Jamie Hyneman duo moves on to another chapter in their careers.
After almost 250 episodes and nearly 3,000 experiments, the popular myth-debunking series in Discovery Channel is about to reach its conclusion.
Of course, their legacy will not be forgotten as the "Mythbusters" library would be moving on to Discovery Channel's sister company.
In fact, a statement from Discovery Channel, Science Channel and Animal Planet President Rich Ross cited by E! News revealed the group's plans for the series.
"MythBusters is-and will always be-an incredibly important part of Discovery's history. Adam and Jamie are enormous talents who have brought learning and science to the forefront of this network, and their legacy will continue to live on over at Science Channel," the statement read.
Ross further revealed that by 2016, the "Mythbusters" episodes would be shown in the Science Channel where "audiences new and old alike will be able to experience and learn with Adam and Jamie and the rest of the MythBusters family."
According to Savage, they already knew the end was coming since the beginning of 2015.
"I can tell you I've been going through all the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross stages of grief - anger, acceptance, denial - it's all been happening," he told Entertainment Weekly.
One good thing about an early revelation of the series' conclusion is that Savage and Hyneman were given ample time to prepare for an explosive final season.
"It was my greatest fear that 'Mythbusters' would just stop and we wouldn't be able to do proper final episodes. So whether it's myths about human behavior or car stories or explosion stories, we tried to find the most awesome example of each category and build on our past history," Savage told EW.
During the in-depth interview with the duo, EW was able to get some juicy details on how the science-themed reality show would be ending its long-run.
"When we construct the final season list of stories, our guiding principle was what are the iconic categories that fans of Mythbusters that should not be ignored in the final season. We really tried to address each one of those," Savage explained, adding that the series finale would be "pretty amazing."
Hyneman and Savage, who had been the iconic faces of the show, received commendations for their performance in "Mythbusters" along with the rest of the team.
"Their unique personalities and extraordinarily diverse skill sets have literally redefined science television," said John Luscombe, the general manager for Beyond Productions.
