Dell recently refreshed its OptiPlex commercial PC family with significant upgrades.

Tech Radar reported that the refresh addresses several desktop form factors in the Micro Form Factor, Small Form Factor, Mini Tower, and All-in-One designs. This includes better energy efficiency guaranteed to help business users work faster, be more productive, and better collaborate with peers.

"We are defining the future of the PC and the role it plays in meeting our customers' most pressing computing needs," said Jeff Clarke, Vice Chairman of Operations and President of Client Solutions at Dell, as quoted by Tech Radar. "We are investing in this part of our business like never before, bringing new innovations to market that are redefining the role of the PC - whether it's an ultra-mobile 2-in-1, thin or zero client, or a desktop that now handles workloads for a mobile workforce who require a robust collaboration solution."

Models

Dell's updated OptiPlex PC's portfolio has a new 3000/5000/7000 model numbering structure for easier product comparison and selection for customers. They are listed below, as provided by Business Wire.

  • OptiPlex 7040: Enterprise-class desktop in a compact design, comes with distinct graphics, dual hard drives, and triple display;
  • OptiPlex 5040: A full-featured commercial desktop with advanced performance, excellent security and manageability, and features for business purposes;
  • OptiPlex 3040: A business desktop with best-in-class security, manageability, and great performance, comes with the lowest entry price point among commercial desktops;
  • OptiPlex 24 7000 Series All-In-One (7440): An all-in-one desktop with an ultra-sleek and premium design, comes with a 23.8-inch Full HD display and an optional 4K Ultra HD display;
  • OptiPlex 22 3000 Series All-In-One (3240): An all-in-one desktop with features suitable for productivity and business functions, comes with a new 21.5-inch Full HD display.

The OptiPlex PCs can function up to 160 percent better performance than a computer from five years ago, Tech Radar further wrote. Intel's latest sixth generation Skylake processors powers the new OptiPlex PCs, which can be configured with twice the memory and four times its predecessors' storage.

The OptiPlex AIO 7000 Series has 300 percent more pixels compared to a full HD (1080p) display, Tech Radar noted. For those using the PC in meetings, the OptiPlex 7040 Micro with Intel vPro can be configured with Intel Unite software for flawless virtual discussions with business peers.

The OptiPlex 7040 Small Form Factor, meanwhile, has lessened background noise by 32 percent and reduced power consumption by up to 63 percent, Business Wire reported.

The OptiPlex 7000, 5000, and Micro PC with Intel Unite are available for purchase now, but the OptiPlex 3000 Series is not coming until November, Tech Radar noted. Prices weren't provided by Dell.
