"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 is rumored to introduce a new character who proved quite the mystery since the show's debut by simply being the father of Howard Wolowitz.

In fact, even cast member Simon Helberg, the actor who portrays Howard, expressed his enthusiasm at the introduction of his character's estranged father known as Sam Wolowitz.

"I think it would be nice to potentially meet his dad. I don't write the show, I don't create any of those aspects so I get a script, open it and find out his dad abandoned him. It's interesting. I can't wait to see what they've got for us," he told the Press Association as posted in MSN.

According to the Huffington Post, Sam Wolowitz left the 11-year-old Harold and his mother to fend for themselves and was never seen since then.

Despite of his absence, he was a common topic among Sheldon and friends though they only talk about him in what the outlet described as a 'roundabout way,' not revealing any more in-depth details for the past eight seasons of the show.

Now, rumors cited by Cinema Blend reveal a high probability that fans may be able to finally learn who Sam Wolowitz really is.

In the show's past season, a letter from Howard's father was revealed following his mother, Debbie, had passed away in her sleep.

According to the outlet, this letter and the mere fact that the show's creators have already decided to dig deeper into Sam's identity.

"Maybe they'd run into each other at some random event or Howard would simply want to look his father up," the outlet wondered.

"Considering that when Debbie died, Howard's father signed the house over to Howard without actually contacting him, the potential for Sam being the one to reach out does not look good," the report stated, further pursuing the possibility that it was Howard who would make the move to reach out to his father.

Aside from that, Howard also learned that his father had a second family after he left his first making their first meeting an awkward one, something Cinema Blend believes may be a good opportunity for more funny episodes for the comedy series.

Also, the show had been delving into the main characters' background and relationships for the past few seasons but the inclusion of Howard's father in the picture still lies on the decision of the show's producers and writers.
