'The Good Wife' Season 5 Spoilers: Kalinda's New Love Interest is Cast, While Melissa George Nabs Major Role

"The Good Wife" fans have been eagerly waiting for news of the upcoming fifth season, which is set to premiere in late September. So far, producers have only shares tiny tidbits, which have only kept fans wanting more, but new casting news may help them satisfied...for now.

TVLine reported that the CBS drama has casted two new characters for the upcoming season. According to their reports, English actress Juliet Rylance has been cast as Kalinda's (Archie Panjabi) love interest. Rylance will play Holly, "a whip-smart Assistance State's Attorney who shares a past with Kalinda," in a recurring role, TVLine reported.

Rylance will join fellow newbie Melissa George ("Hunted"), who has been cast in the recurring role of Marilyn, the in-house ethics counsel to newly-elected Governor Florrick (Chris Noth). As previously reported, Marilyn will make sure Florrick "plays by the rules" as governor.

CBS has yet to cast a third character, whose unofficial name is Carey. According to TVLine, Carey is described as "a lawyer at Lockhart Gardner who is one of the fourth-year associates jumping ship with Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Alicia (Julianna Margulies)."

Previous reports also addressed executive producer Robert King's desire to get actor Matthew Perry ("Go On") to reprise his role as Mike Kresteva. King told TVLine that he intends to do "whatever we can to get him."

In other "Good Wife" news, actor Zach Grenier, who plays David Lee, has been promoted to series regular, TVLine also reported. According to the report, news of his promotion was broken on CBS Television Studios' Twitter account on June 20. David Lee is described as "the cunning, power-hungry head of Lockhart-Gardner's law practice, a man's who's been known to relish intrigue and infighting when it comes to office politics."

"The Good Wife" returns for season five on Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
