The third smartphone from OnePlus is now expected to be a powerful device worthy enough to be called a flagship killer, according to a leak which came out a few weeks before its expected release.
Times said that a product listing on Oppomart, which has been taken down, reveals that the upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus X, will cost $249 with Global 4G LTE connectivity support.
It also added that the device will sport a 5-inch full HD IPS 2.5D display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution. Furthermore, the upcoming smartphone is said to have 3GB of RAM and a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor.
"It runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1 OS out of the box," noted Times adding that users can choose from 16GB and 64GB versions.
As for the camera, the handset is believed to have a 13MP main camera and an 8MP secondary shooter with 2K video recording.
Users can also enjoy longer use of the phone without charging as the OnePlus X will have a 2450 mAh lithium-ion battery which has an estimated 10 days of standby time.
Meanwhile, other features of the phone include Micro Sim capability, GPS, 4G LTE and Bluetooth.
According to Mashable, releasing this upcoming phone is a way for OnePlus to prove that it is one of the big names in the Android market.
Recently, the OnePlus 2 was released for around $330 and came with a 5.5inch IPS 1080p display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There was, however, delay in deliveries in some countries as per Express.
"We messed up the launch of the OnePlus 2. To our fans, sorry. We were equally excited when we saw your excitement around the OnePlus 2," said OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. He added that the company knows how the users feel since they were made to wait for something that they really wanted.
Despite the delivery delay, those who have already experienced using the phone, the OnePlus 2 received some great reviews after its release. For example, Indian Express noted that the phone is "one of the best budget devices in the market at the moment, offering great performance, a super camera and a 64G of storage."
As for performance, the same report detailed that the phone experiences some problems especially when loading bigger apps like games but noted that it comes with a great camera which shoots photos like a pro photojournalist.
Meanwhile, Wired said that the OnePlus 2 is a "good phone" but not a "flagship killer." It highlighted on the good aspects of the handset like its 1080 display and a battery that lasts for a whole day.
"It runs great, as fast and smooth as you'd ever want, but I can't say I'm not worried about the fire inside," added the same report.
