It looks like Spider-Man will be battling more villains in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
Three bad guys are already known to be appearing the sequel: Jamie Foxx as Electro, Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin, and Paul Giamatti as Rhino. But there may be more scary adversaries that Spidey will have to fend off.
According to MTV, The Daily Bugle, a site based on the news publication in "Spider-Man," released an article hinting about a Russian crime syndicate appearing in the next film.
It reads: "With reports of Russian mob activity at an all-time high in the city, many have wondered who these (mostly) men are and what they are trying to accomplish. New Yorkers are no strangers to organized crime, but this time it seems different.
"Mob activity is the suspected cause of a spike in crime across all five boroughs. Not content with hijacking retail goods, sports betting or drugs, more crime families have become involved in high-tech crimes such as the theft of microchips, processors, experimental metal alloys and advanced weaponry."
MTV reports that the Russian mobsters could be connected to Giamatti's Rhino, also known as Aleksei Systevich. Some fans are saying the mobsters may be the Enforcers, a group of recurring Spider-Man villains that debuted in the comic books in 1964.
The Enforcers are guns for hire, and Fancy Dan Brito is one of the well-established members of the group.
In the comics, the Enforcers were known to help Norman Osborn with corporate crime. Chris Cooper will be playing Norman and DeHaan will play Harry in the new film, so it is possible that the gangsters are tied to the Goblin family.
It is also rumored that Felicity Jones will play Felicia Hardy, the jewel thief known as The Black Cat.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be released nationwide on May 2.
