Marks & Spencer will give back to their loyal shoppers by offering a new members club called Sparks, which was announced on Thursday. The multinational retailer is trying to build a closer relationship with their clients as the new card scheme will give discounts, events invitations, priority access and many more.

Sparks will be nationally launched on Oct. 22. According to Reuters, M&S Chief Executive Marc Bolland spent billions of pounds to redesign products, the stores and supply chain logistics and the firm's website.

Last year, the high street chain's platform was just provided by Amazon but now, M&S shifted its website to be one of its own to give a better customer insight. This move is also to encourage the company to give attention to their "traditionally strong fan base among UK shoppers."

"The fresh look that we have taken is a move from loyalty into a members club," Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, M&S executive marketing director, told reporters. "We believe the time is right for M&S to be introducing Sparks today ... But most importantly we could not have done it before."

However, the M&S card member holders will not receive coupons or points to buy products from the store but, it will be use to "unlock benefits," Mirror reported. Unlike Tesco Clubcard that trades the card holders' points into cash for groceries and home wares and Nectar card members can go to Sainsbury to exchanged in for products or a day out, Sparks bearers only get special offers and invites to store's events.

Shoppers who will avail the reward will have the privilege to earn 10 Sparks with every £1 purchase and additional 10 points for the transaction. Too, they can boost their sparks with another 25 points if they make a good online review of the product they bought and additional 50 points for "shwopping" or swapping an old clothe to buy a new one.

"Members will accrue points rather like in a video game -- the points don't have a monetary value and they are never spent," a spokesperson said, the British tabloid added. "They are a way of accessing exclusive deals and personalized discounts each time members shop or interact with us online."

Interested members should fill up a registration form available on M&S' website with their various interests from fashion, music, sports and cooking to determine the types of offers and discounts the company will give. Cards will be, then, picked up in their physical stores.
