Victoria Justice opened up about a recent health struggle.

In her November cover story for Health magazine, the 22-year-old actress revealed that she has Hashimoto's disease, a thyroid autoimmune condition. Justice revealed that she was diagnosed with the disorder a few years back.

According to U.S. News & World Report, Hashimoto's disease occurs "when the immune system attacks the thyroid gland, causing inflammation and the inability to sufficiently produce thyroid hormones." Some of its symptoms are fatigue, a puffy face, sluggishness, hoarse voice, muscle ache and tenderness, weight fluctuations, and stiff joints.

Mayo Clinic's page for Hashimoto's disease indicated that one of the disorder's symptoms is pale and dry skin.

"All my life I've always had great skin, so it was really devastating," Justice told Health magazine. "Also, at first, I was losing a lot of weight, then I went on tour and I started gaining weight, and it was the most I'd ever gained in my life. I was, like, 115 pounds. Then when I filmed a movie last summer, I actually went under 100 pounds. It was crazy, but things have leveled out, and I'm back to normal."

The former Nickelodeon star also opened up about how she dealt with the public's attention on her weight and skin.

"It definitely did affect my confidence, and it made me a little bit more self-conscious," Justice said of her disorder, as reported by the publication. "But at the end of the day, I had the support of my family and friends. I knew that the people around me had my back. Now I really empathize with people who have issues with their skin, because it can get you down."

The "Victorious" star said that she still has Hashimoto's, but her numbers are "back to normal" and that she is currently "not on medication," Health magazine noted.

For some patients, treatment of the disease involves thyroid hormone replacement therapy, which is a lifelong regimen, U.S. News & World Report added. If left untreated, the disorder can cause heart problems, mental health issues such as depression, reduced sexual interest, and birth defects in babies who have mothers with the disease.

As for how she stays healthy, Justice said in her interview with Health magazine that she takes vitamins and 10 minutes of meditation daily, drinks lots of water, and regularly exercises. One of the brunette beauty's favorite ways to stay fit is a twerking class.

Justice can next be seen in the Peter Hutchings-directed comedy "The Outskirts" bowing in November, The Hollywood Reporter noted. She also starred in this year's flick "Naomi + Ely's No Kiss List" alongside her real-life boyfriend Pierson Fode.
