New video footage capturing Secretary of State John Kerry's unconventional encounter with Snoop Dogg at the White House has gone viral, receiving over 30,000 likes on Instagram.

In the video, both men are dressed in tuxedoes and engage in small talk about hip hop, laugh and even share a fist pound.

The candid moment appears to have been captured on a cell phone during the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. where Snoop Dogg performed a tribute for jazz legend Herbie Hancock. The "Snoop and the Secretary video" appears to have been shot at reception held at the White House and subsequently posted on Snoop's Instagram page.

Snoop promoted the video by tweeting a link to the video post Thursday afternoon, writing "@SnoopDogg "Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house !!! #reincarnated #khc instagram.com/p/iZstshv9Ha/"

The State Department official Kerry's Foggy Bottom Twitter account retweeted the message complete with his initials JK, writing "Between us we've sold 30 million-JK." Whatever that means.

In the cell phone video, Snoop and Secretary Kerry appear to be chatting about Herbie Hancock legacy in music. The audio is faint, but you can hear Snoop say "He invented hip-hop, that's why it only makes sense."

Kerry and Snoop Dogg then laugh and share an amicable fist-pound before Kerry can be heard saying, "You gave me a good pound."

The Kennedy Center honors was hosted by President Obama in the East Room on Dec. 8.

In addition to Hancock, other honorees included opera singer Martina Arroyo, musician Billy Joel, actress Shirley MacLaine and musician Carlos Santana.

The honors ceremony show will air Sunday on CBS, reports USA Today.
