Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. were surprised last Saturday when Kanye West showed up in San Francisco California on the set of the fifteenth an final season of "American Idol". According to E! News, the rapper was accompanied by his wife, Kim Kardashian and hung out with the show's host, Ryan Seacrest.

The host and "KUWTK" producer posted a photo of the rapper on Instagram, which he captioned, "Look who's going to Hollywood! #IdolAuditions #kanyewest."

Kim also took to her own account, posting a photo of the show's TV monitor that showed her husband's "audition". In videos leaked by fans, it seemed that West sang his 2005 hit, "Gold Digger" for the smiling judges.

E! News also noted that the West family traveled to San Francisco over the weekend to attend the Democratic National Committee fundraiser for President Barack Obama. Kanye was the headlining performer at the event, with the president then giving him some important advice regarding his 2020 presidential bid.

The rapper announced during the MTV VMAs in August that he is running for President in 2020, telling the crowd during his acceptance speech, "As of this moment, I have decided that I will be running for president in 2020," before dropping the microphone.

In an interview, Kim said she didn't know about her husband's desire to run until he made his announcement onstage, although she did admit that she thinks Kanye's serious about it, which is why the incumbent president's advice came at a good time for the couple.

Among the points the President made for West included dealing with strange people, when he said, "you've got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they're on a reality TV show. So you've got to be cool with that."

He also touched on "off message", warning the rapper, "saying you have a 'beautiful, dark twisted fantasy'... that's what's known as 'off message' in politics. You can't say something like that. A lot of people have lost their congressional seats saying stuff like that."

Finally, he said humorously, "Do you really think this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That's crazy. That's cray!"

Do you think Kanye could get a golden ticket to the Oval Office, or will he be less lucky in politics than he is in his music career?
