The Final Fantasy X/ X-2 HD collection is something that fans of the series have been waiting for ever since it was announced by Square Enix, and now it looks as though those same fans may have a new entry into the series to potentially look forward to in the future.

According to Siliconera, Final Fantasy scenario writer Kazushige Nojima spoke about the possibly of Final Fantasy X-3, and the Square Enix producer claims that it is very possible the game could be made if fans support the new collection enough for the developer to take notice:

"If there's enough demand, then we may possibly see new developments...I would personally like to see a sequel like X-3."

This is huge news, as it would allow a new chapter for fans to explore in the lives of Luna, Titus, and all the other characters in the game. However, Square Enix has had mixed results for their sequels to Final Fantasy games, starting all the way with the original release of Final fantasy X-2 for the PlayStation 2. If Square Enix is able to preserve the reputation of the series while delivering a next gen Final Fantasy to complement the already confirmed Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 then Final fantasy X-3 could be a big boost to Square Enix.

Perhaps Nojima is seeking to use the strategy that worked for the Kingdom Hearts collections get released. When the first collection, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix was announced, it was revealed that Square Enix was waiting to see how well the collection would sell before committing to remastering other titles in the series. Now, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix has been announced, and something similar could happen with the Final Fantasy X series.

The Final Fantasy X/X-2 collection is already available in Japan, but in the United States the collection will not be made available until March 18. The collection gives the PlayStation 2 games a visual facelift along with improved audio for the game's iconic soundtrack. In addition, a new ending has been written for the game that could potentially wrap up the series or tease what may become Final fantasy X-3. Either way, fans are looking forward to playing the games again on the PlayStation 3 as well as the PlayStation Vita.
