Disney just announced the release dates for its upcoming movies, also confirming the arrival of "Ant Man and the Wasp." One of the biggest Disney news is the release date for Marvel's "Ant Man" sequel, which is officially slated for July 6, 2018 launch, Forbes.com reported.
Marvel Studios, the production company for the highly-successful 2015 superhero film, added "Ant Man and the Wasp" to Phase 3. The release of "Ant-Man" in theaters this year ended the Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 2018 "Ant Man and the Wasp" superhero movie from MCU will see the return of Scott Lang and Hope Van. Moreover, "The sequel will mark the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine," a post on official Marvel website noted.
Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, "Ant-Man" already earned $178.5 million in domestic box office and $231.5 worldwide. It is currently the number 9 movie of the year in the US. As for its final international release, "Ant-Man" will open in theaters in China on Oct. 16.
"Ant-Man" will also appear in "Captain America: Civil War," arriving on May 6, 2016, according to IGN.
Meanwhile, the addition of "Ant-Man" sequel to Phase 3 led to several changes in the original schedule. For instance, "Captain Marvel," which is initially scheduled for a Nov. 2, 2018 release date will now debut on March 8, 2019.
"Black Panther" will have an earlier release, now set by Disney and Marvel to arrive in theaters on Feb. 16, 2018. And three more movies, with titles that are yet to be announced, are scheduled for release in 2020, specifically on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020 and Nov. 6, 2020.
As for other upcoming Disney films, the playdate for "Coco," which is previously listed as "Untitled Pixar Animation" remains solid for Nov. 22, 2017. "The discovery of a generations-old mystery leads to a most extraordinary and surprising family reunion," the story line for the film read as posted on International Movie Database (IMDB).
A month after "Coco's" scheduled release, Disney will launch a live-action Disney fairy tale movie, which title is yet to be revealed.
Another Disney film, "Gigantic," will be released on March 9, 2018. Moreover, moviegoers can expect three more Disney fairy tale films, two Pixar animated-films, one Disneytoon Studios offering and one Disney animation movie from 2018 to 2020.
Variety reported Disney's announcement that it already reached the $4 billion mark at international box office. "As of Oct. 7, the studio has hauled $1.4 billion in the U.S. and Canada and $2.6 billion internationally," the post read.
