Dec. 27 has arrived, marking the day Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter was supposed to be available on the Nintendo eShop. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Nintendo has suddenly postponed the launch.

A clue to the postponement might have been seen on early Dec. 26 when the Japanese Nintendo eShop took down the Pokémon Bank due to communication problems.

In a statement on the official Nintendo of America webpage, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company International stated the postponement was due to large volumes of traffic on the Nintendo Network service.

"Due to the high traffic, players are having trouble setting up Nintendo Network IDs and downloading content in the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS," the statement by Nintendo of America added. "We truly regret the inconvenience, and wish to reassure everyone that providing a solution is our top priority. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your continued patience."

Nintendo of America also tweeted, "Hi, everyone. We're aware that some of you are encountering issues with eShop and creating NNIDs. Our team is working hard to resolve them..."

The outage for the Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter has not only affected Japan and North America but also Asia, Australia and Europe.

As Latino Post reported, the Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter would help fans store up to 3,000 Pokémon and transfer Pokémon from the four fifth-generation games to "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" versions. The launch of the two programs would've also introduced a free Celebi.
