Eva Longoria will bring a half-hour project to ABC.
The 40-year-old's company UnbeliEVAble Entertainment is producing a still untitled interracial family comedy alongside veteran writer Bobby Bowman. The project will tell the story of "an ambitious and meticulous Latino chef who runs a cafe with his unpredictable white father-in-law," Deadline wrote.
Bowman serves as the executive producer with UnbeliEVAble's Longoria and Ben Spector. Universal TV, where the company is based, is the studio handling the project, the news outlet added.
This will be Longoria and Bowman's comeback to ABC. The former starred in the network's "Desperate Housewives" while the latter created the sitcom "Family Tools," Deadline noted. In 2014, ABC and ABC Studios developed a half-hour comedy headlining Longoria.
The Mexican-American actress stars in NBC's "Hot and Bothered" as Ana Sofia, the lead star of a Spanish soap opera who doesn't know how to speak Spanish, Daily Mail noted. The series is expected to premiere later this year.
Longoria is known for her producing chops. In September, it was reported that she is teaming up with Will Packer to produce a new Latino-driven comedy for NBC titled "Bonita & Mechelle," a multi-camera comedy that centers on two women, one Hispanic and one African-American. The females will "find themselves living together while conquering the ups and downs of single life and parenting," according to a separate report from Deadline.
In addition, Deadline reported about Longoria's UnbeliEVAble Entertainment selling its first series project under its three-year TV and film production deal with NBC. The comedy is set against the world of Texas Rangers and will follow the story of ranger Cathy Cruz, "who after inadvertently catching a serial killer, is recruited by the rough-and-tumble Texas Rangers," the news outlet wrote.
"Cruz butts heads with her straight-laced macho partner at work as well as her judgmental Mexican family at home, and the biggest question that remains is: which world does she fit into less?" the news outlet added.
Aside from these shows, UnbeliEVAble is developing projects for HBO Films and NBC International, Deadline further wrote. Longoria also produces ABC Studios' "Devious Maids."
Eva Longoria's 'The Firsts' Campaign
Longoria recently unveiled The Firsts Campaign celebrating the achievements of Latino families. Together with co-founder Henry Muñoz III, she asks Latinos to share their stories of being the first in their family to attain success on the Latino Victory website.
"I am inspired every day by our community as we constantly dare to dream big," said Longoria in a statement quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "The Firsts Campaign is about celebrating everyday victories in our community that are integral to the future of the nation."
