Android 6.0 Marshmallow is sure to come on 14 Xperia mobile phones as announced by Sony but it is still unsure when this will be available.

Venture Beat noted that the rollout of this update may come in phases, as the company usually does, and may vary depending on the country.

More details of the update are expected to be available soon, Sony vowed.

It was also noted in the Venture Beat report that the 14 Xperia devices which should expect the Android 6.0 Marshmallow are the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4.

"We've been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our devices as possible, as quickly as we can. We're really excited about the new Sony features & functionality and the improvements we've made to the user experience -- and we'll be sharing more soon," said Sony in a blog post. It added that users should follow their Twitter account for more updates.

Along with this, Sony also launched for trial its Concept for Android: Marshmallow edition.

A separate Sony blog entry revealed that the program will roll out in the next weeks and it will be open to 10,000 users of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact especially in countries like Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany.

"The software is built on some of the key feedback from our first 'Concept for Android' - the users helped us create an experience built on the fundamentals of: prolonged battery life, smooth and fast performance, sleek user interface, Sony apps and experiences and frequent, timely updates," Sony added.

The company also noted that instead of a preview of the software version, they are providing users with "a proof-of-concept" to establish a better user experience.

"[This] will also allow us to be more responsive in developing and rolling out the Sony Android upgrades Xperia users want, more quickly," added Sony in its blog.

According to The Inquirer, this announcement from Sony came days after rival Motorola announced that some of its phones will have the Marshmallow updates. These devices included the Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen), Moto X Style (3rd gen), Moto X Play, Moto G (3rd gen), Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen), Moto X (2nd gen), Moto G (2nd gen), Droid Turbo, Moto Maxx, Moto Turbo and Nexus 6.
