Lionsgate has already found the perfect actress to play the Pink Ranger in upcoming "Power Rangers" movie and it is none other than Naomi Scott.

The official Twitter and Instagram account of the film shared this great news, saying: "It's official! #NaomiScott will play the #PinkRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie! Coming in 2017..."

According to Variety, the movie would be helmed by Dean Israelite who would be working on a script penned by "X-Men: First Class" writers Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller while Brian Casentini, Haim Saban and Allison Shearmur would be seated in the producer's seats.

Those born in the 1990s are no stranger to the team of masked heroes who debuted in the Fox Kids TV series "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers."

For those who were born too late or too soon to enjoy the show, the story begins with five select high school students who were granted extraterrestrial powers as well as "kick-ass karate skills" in order to save Earth, Maxim reports.

The series was first adapted into the big screen back in 1995 and has reached its 22nd season which still airs to date but with a different group of teenagers who have different suits.

In a 2014 report, Variety revealed that Lionsgate and Saban Brands revealed their plans to recreate the fan-favorite franchise.

"Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level, hey have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from 'The Hunger Games' to 'Twilight' and 'Divergent,'" Saban Films said in a statement.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer expressed his enthusiasm in working with Saban in the project which he described as "immensely successful and universally recognized."

"The Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they are more powerful than ever," he continued.

Though still a newbie, Scott is the first to be selected to portray one of the rangers-an iconic one at that.

Back in the "Mighty Morphin's" early days, the Pink Ranger was portrayed by Amy Jo Johnson who rose to fame as Julie Emrick in the 1998 series "Felicity."

This, says Maxim writer Sean Abrams, may be a huge pair of shoes to fill for the 22-year-old actress who only had Disney's TV movie "Lemonade Mouth" and the Matt Damon-starrer "The Martian" on her résumé.

"Despite rumors of throwing newcomers into the ring, I wanted to see someone with real experience. Emily Blunt can play 16 if she wants. Hell, what about baby-faced Kate Mara? And since Katee Sackhoff did so well in that YouTube take, she'd definitely crush it," Abrams wrote.
