Apple just released the "iOS 9.1 beta 4," which comes with several new features. Less than a week after the release of the third test build, the Cupertino-based tech giant unleashed a new beta version of its latest mobile operating system, the "iOS 9.1." According to the screenshot of the download page posted on BGR, the 1.6 GB-heavy "iOS 9.1 beta 4" contains "bug fixes and improvements."
As for the specific features that come with it, Apple Insider reported that the latest beta includes a bigger set of emojis based on Unicode 8. Some of the new emojis are a burrito unicorn, a middle finger, a taco and "a mysterious 'eye in speech bubble' character."
Moreover, the latest beta version of iOS 9.1 also brings in the option to "disable contact photos in Messages app." 9to5Mac further revealed that the newest beta version of the "iOS 9.1" introduces four new wallpapers
According to Apple Developer Center website, the latest beta is a pre-release version of "iOS 9.1" available for iPhone, iPad as well as the iPod touch. Moreover, it warned users that "Devices updated to 'iOS 9.1' can not be restored to earlier versions of iOS."
"iOS 9.1 beta 4" with build number 13B136 is available for Apple developers and public beta testers, accessible via the Apple Developer Center or over-the-air update. Apple also noted that the beta version of "iOS 9.1" should only be installed on Apple devices that are intended for beta software development.
In addition to the "iOS 9.1 beta 4," Apple also began seeding tvOS beta 3, a pre-release version which is compatible only for the new Apple TV. The official Apple developer page noted that the newest beta with build version 13T5379f does not support third generation of Apple TV and older models.
"'tvOS SDK 9.0 beta 3' provides support for developing tvOS apps," the official Apple release notes read. "It is packaged with a complete set of Xcode tools, compilers, and frameworks for creating apps for tvOS. These tools include the Xcode IDE and the Instruments analysis tool, among many others."
The iPhone maker also released the third beta for Xcode 7.1, "a complete Xcode developer toolset for building apps that run on Apple TV, Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac," as described on the Apple developer page. "It includes the Xcode IDE, simulators, and all the required tools and frameworks to build apps for iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and OS X.
Apple first unveiled "iOS 9.1" at the iPhone 6s event in Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, iDownloadBlog noted. Though the official "iOS 9.1" public release has not been announced yet, Mac Rumors noted that it will most probably be on October, alongside the launching of the new Apple TV.
