The first episode of the eagerly-awaited second season of CW's hit superhero TV series The Flash has finally aired, and if the first episode is to be any indication, it seems like everyone's favorite speedster will be graced by yet another action-packed, exciting, and ultimately gratifying season.
The first season of The Flash ended with a huge bang, as Barry Allen and the rest of Central City's unofficial defenders finally bested the series' greatest villain to date, the formidable Reverse-Flash. In the first episode of the second season, viewers get to see Barry dealing with the emotional blowback dealt by the first season's final battle, according to Forbes.
The issues left behind by the first season are quickly resolved however, with Barry's guilt and resulting need to be alone being overcome within the episode. The first episode, in fact, already introduces viewers to one of the show's most interesting aspects - the villains.
Reverse-Flash was a formidable enemy to the lightning-quick superhero, and he did set the bar high during the first season. Which villains may lay in store for Barry Allen this time around?
Bustle has released a list of possible villains that The Flash may end up facing in the current season of the TV series. Here is a partial list of the show's possible centerpiece villains. Who knows, one of these may even be the series' Big Bad.
1. Atom Smasher - Introduced and overcome in the first episode by The Flash, Atom Smasher, who is imbibed with super strength, may play an even bigger role as the series progresses.
2. Sand Demon - Though his presence has not been officially announced in the second season's lineup, this villain, who has the power to control sand, may present The Flash with a really big challenge.
3. Lewis Snart - More deviously known as Captain Cold and Golden Glider, this old-fashioned, earth-bound evil, who considers himself a "career criminal" may pose a huge threat for the young superhero.
4. Doctor Alchemy - Though the character has not been cast as of writing, a reference to Doctor Alchemy was stated during WonderCon this summer. He has the power to transfigure objects or his sinister purposes.
5. Vandal Savage - The immortal bad guy may be The Flash's greatest challenge yet, especially due to the scope of his powers. If he does appear in the series, he may give the Flash an even bigger fight than last season's main villain.
If the remaining episodes of the series is as good as the first episode, then viewers may very well be enjoying this season's chapter in the ongoing saga of The Flash.
