Dead and Company will be giving away 10,000 free tickets for their additional concert set in New York City, reports NY Daily News. For those not in the know, Dead and Company is mostly comprised of alumni from the Grateful Dead band, including Bob Weir, Billy Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, states Mashable.

John Mayer is also in the newly formed band and will be performing alongside the Grateful Dead members at the show. Rolling Stone adds that Jeff Chimenti, the keyboardist from Ratdog, is also part of Dead and Company.

Meanwhile, bassist Oteil Burbridge, from the Allman Brothers Band, will be stepping in for Phil Lesh, who was Grateful Dead's bassist in the past.

The free concert will take place in Madison Square Garden on November 7, 2015. The live performance will be presented by American Express in partnership with Vevo and YouTube. Rolling Stone explains that there will be no tickets sold for the concert, so the only way to see the band perform live is to win a ticket.

"People who want to hear the music get to hear it for free and we get to promote our music and share it with people," Bob Weir told The Associated Press.

The band is encouraging fans who attend the free concert to donate to the Robin Hood Foundation, a group that runs 200 poverty-fighting programs and interventions in New York City. In essence, the money that would be earned through ticket sales for the show could go to the foundation instead. To make a donation, click here.

Fans who are interested in winning some tickets to the show should visit the official website of Dead and Company here. Each contestant will get to win two free tickets to the November 7 gig. The deadline to enter is just two days away on, October 8, 2015.

Since there will only be 10,000 tickets, there will probably be a few hundred or more fans who will not see the concert live. However, fans can still watch the concert in real-time. Mashable explains that a live video of the show will be streamed on amexunstaged.com through its app.

However those who miss out on the band's free show and the live video feed of the concert, can still watch Dead and Company perform live. The band will has scheduled a Fall tour.

Their first official concert will kick off in Albany, New York on October 29, 2015. Of course, fans will have to pay to see Dead and Company perform on the other shows.
