Hillary Clinton just launched the "Latinos for Hillary" campaign just in time for the Hispanic Heritage Month and to boost her polling numbers.

"Latinos for Hillary" events are set to roll out in the next several weeks in areas with large Hispanic populations, NBC News reported. The campaign aims to strengthen the Democratic presidential frontrunner's standing in the Latino community and overall nationally.

Clinton's positive ratings among voters took a plunge recently, with her strong lead over closest rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders, disappearing in New Hampshire and Iowa, NBC News wrote. The NBC/Wall Street Journal's latest poll done on Sept. 20-24 showed Clinton with a negative popularity standing, 39% to 47% (-8) favorable/unfavorable with all voters.

However, the poll also indicated that her rating among Latinos have a better outlook, with 53% of the community in favor of her and 21% having negative opinions, the news outlet added.

According to CNN, Clinton will head to San Antonio, Texas on Oct. 15. The trip, which marks her first organizing event in the state, will highlight Latinas and the presidential candidate's personal stories. San Antonio is also the hometown of Housing Secretary Julián Castro, who is regarded by many as Clinton's potential running mate.

Campaign spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa said that Clinton will also speak at the Congressional Hispanic Conference Institute's annual awards gala on Oct. 8, with a keynote from U.S. President Barack Obama, NBC News wrote.

Clinton sees Texas as "part of a potential firewall in the battle for Democratic delegates, and her visit to San Antonio will be her second bid to shore up that support," CNN wrote. Clinton already paid a visit to Texas to raise dollars and to address voting rights. But since then, Sanders held massive rallies in Dallas and Houston.

Liberal hero Wendy Davis announced on Wednesday that she is endorsing Clinton at an Austin event, CNN added. Political strategist Lorena Chambers of Chambers Lopez Strategies LLC also praised Clinton's initiatives, NBC News noted.

Latinos play an essential part in the Democratic Party nomination, CNN noted. Clinton has had a good relationship with Latino voters for so long now. Hispanics preferred Clinton over then-Senator Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary by an almost two-to-one edge. Clinton's campaign hopes her stance on raising wages, health care, and affordable college education will strike a chord among Hispanic voters.

Earlier in September, Clinton also launched the "Women for Hillary," which promises that women will not be left out of her campaign but "flow throughout it," NBC News wrote. Clinton has witnessed her popularity among white women plummeting, but there's still continued tough support from women of color.
