Samsung may have just announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 series, but owners of the older Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 won't have to worry about being forgotten: Samsung is now rolling out an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade for the tablet.
"Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, is the fastest and smoothest version of Android yet. Jelly Bean improves on the simplicity and beauty of Android 4.0, and introduces a new Google search experience on Android," reads the Samsung webpage for the update.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 owners can go ahead and download the update through Samsung's KIES software on the computer. Those with the AT&T LTE model can do so through the KIES app. Full instructions on how to grab the Jelly Bean update and details on what it brings can be found here.
For the rest of us, it's simple - Android Jelly Bean is a huge improvement over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is what Galaxy Tab 2 10.1s have been running. Jelly Bean's Project Butter improves interface fluidity and sharpness by upping the frame rate and optimizing system processes. Jelly Bean also introduces Google Now, a personal assistant that Google touts can give you information you need before you even ask for it. All in all, it'll be a welcome upgrade, and one that should reignite users' interests in their Galaxy Tab 2 10.1s.
