Barry Allen, aka The Flash, made a huge impression on "Arrow" when he appeared on the season's eighth episode last month. The Central City police scientist came to town to help Oliver and the team uncover an investigation into a seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Consolidated's Applied Sciences Division.

Because fans can't seem to get enough of Allen, "Arrow" producers originally planned for the assistant forensics investigator to make a third appearance on the show. However, rather than including Allen on another episode, producers have decided to film a pilot for "The Flash" instead.

"What happened in Central City at the end of [the fall finale] was certainly big news," as it appeared that Allen died after the STAR Labs particle accelerator went haywire, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told TV Line. He continued revealing that "Right now, we're focusing hard on writing the Flash pilot and breaking the rest of the season of Arrow. But hopefully there will be some synchronicity between the two [shows], in anticipation of getting to see more of Grant [Gustin] and The Flash."

Following a brief winter hiatus, "Arrow" will return with its midseason premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 15 on the CW.

The all-new episode, titled "Blast Radius," is directed by Rob Hardy and written by Jake Coburn & Keto Shimizu. An intense video teaser hints that "Blast Radius" will be action-packed and filled with loads of fighting and shooting scenes. In the new clip, Oliver is spotted on the hunt for an enemy that he's determined to track down. Then the clip shows a flurry of multiple action scenes featuring arrows being shot, walls getting punched, gun shots blasting off and someone being punched while hanging upside down.

Kreisberg also dropped a spoiler about the effects Allen's arrival in Starling City will have on Oliver's relationship with Felicity upon the show's return next year. For the first time, Oliver felt jealous by the attention Felicity gave Allen, however, the question remains of whether or not the two will take their relationship further.

"Oliver isn't quite sure what he feels," executive producer Kreisberg told TV Guide. "He knows he feels something for her, but can't quite define it. He's surprised in [the midseason finale] when Dig [David Ramsey] points out to him that what [he's] feeling right now might actually be termed jealousy. For Felicity, she doesn't want to like Oliver in a way because she finds him unattainable, and in a way he is unattainable especially after... he said that it's probably better that [he's] not with somebody he cares about. While she really does like Barry, I think she probably throws even more into it because now he's somebody who is available."

The EP continued saying that Felicity's conflicting feelings for Allen will cause trouble for Team Arrow. "The fallout from Episode 9 carries over into the next episodes as far as the Oliver and Felicity relationship is concerned," Kreisberg said. "Barry has had a profound effect on them, and that will carry through."

"Arrow" S2E10, "Blast Radius," airs on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
