Junior welterweight kingpin Danny Garcia fired a warning shot towards Manny Pacquiao, stressing he's ready to take on the challenge of facing the eight-division world champion anytime next year.
Coming off a solid unanimous decision win over Argentine slugger Lucas Mattysse, Garcia is reportedly set to make a jump at the welterweight division, where PPV top guns such as Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. loom large.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Garcia said he can easily knock out the former pound-for-pound king, if given a chance to fight him inside the ring.
"Danny Garcia -- boxing's light welterweight champ -- says he's ready to defend his title against any contenders ... and he tells TMZ Sports, he'd easily knock Manny Pacquiao out if he got the chance," according to TMZ.
Garcia, who was also a champion in the super lightweight division, is also willing to put his WBA, WBC and the Ring Magazine Jr. Welterweight belt against Pacquiao, who has been calling out Floyd Mayweather Jr. to settle their score once and for all next year.
"But the craziest part, Garcia says he'd gladly put his title belt on the line to knock out former champ Manny Pacquiao -- presuming Pacquiao doesn't end up challenging Floyd Mayweather Jr. first," Garcia told TMZ.
Possibility of Pacquiao vs. Garcia showdown
As long as Pacquiao is fighting under Top Rank Promotions and Garcia for Golden Boy Promotions, this bout has little to no chance of happening at all, just like the Mayweather-Pacman megafight.
Politics in boxing has been very complicated as of late as promotions and PPV cable giants continue to fight for their respective turfs. According to Bestboxing.blog writer Michael Carbert, the Pacquiao-Garcia slugfest could be the second hardest fight to arrange just behind Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Like Mayweather promotions, Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions will never enter negotiations with Bob Arum's Top Rank to set a showdown between Garcia and Pacquiao.
