"Assassin's Creed Syndicate" will introduce in its first transgender character who will reportedly be a quest giver for a player.

IGN reported that this will be the first time in the franchise that they will include such character who is named Ned Wynert.

"This character is a trans man who acts as a supporting character and quest giver for the player," added the same report noting that the connection of this character to the story of the game is still not clear.

With the introduction of this transgender character, game developer Ubisoft is reportedly gearing towards an inclusive approach on its games. Earlier, the game gave players the chance to choose if they want to be a male (Jacob Fry) or female (Evie Fry) character.

It was also added in the IGN report that the developers of the game have tweaked the text which can be read when the game starts to include sexual preference and gender identities.

"Inspired by historical events and characters, this work of fiction was designed, developed and produced by a multicultural team of various beliefs, sexual orientations and gender identities," the text quoted by IGN read.

In an interview with Eurogamer, "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" creative director Marc-Alexis Côté noted that their hope to fully embrace diversity led to this development.

"It felt like when we first wrote that for AC1 it was something that was very inclusive. But I've had the chance to work with more than 12 different writers on Syndicate. At one point, one approached me and said that we were not embracing diversity fully enough," he added.

As for the opening text, Côté noted that he proposed to have the new statement since their old one was "exclusive of some people."

IGN also highlighted that Syndicate is among the high-profile games to introduce queer characters aside from "The Last of Us," "Dragon Age: Inquisition" and "Mortal Kombat X."

Discussing more details of the game, The Sydney Morning Herald said the setting is in 1868 London which was a center of trade and technology at the time. Despite the industrial revolution, the place was also "home to corruption, vicious street gangs and some horrific living conditions for those on the lower rungs of the social ladder."

The same report added that players should also expect other important factors in the game like policemen, factories where child labor is rampant, street gangs and the rope launcher which is believed to take players from one tower to another in just a zip.

The game is scheduled for release on October 23 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
