There is no doubt that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are notable upgrades when compared to last year's flagship devices. However, how does the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus stack up against each other?

As reported by Digital Trends, both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus come equipped with Apple's latest chip: the 64-bit A9 processor. The tech company states the the newly-minted processor is a lot more energy-efficient than the processor used in the previous iPhone models. In additon, Apple states that the new A9 chip is about 70 percent faster than the A8.

Their internals aside, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus do have some differences. The most noticeable difference between the units can be seen in their screen sizes. The iPhone 6s is equipped with a 1,334 x 750 pixel screen, the iPhone 6s Plus utilizes a 1,920 x 1080 pixel screen. While both admirable, the iPhone 6s Plus' screen does have a slightly better resolution than its smaller counterpart.

Furthermore, both smartphones come equipped with a 5 megapixel front camera and, more impressively a 12 megapixel sensor at the back, which can shoot gifs. The 5 megapixel front camera on both phones are equipped with 720p video recording capabilities and a special feature called Retina Flash, which is a special system that calibrates the intensity of the front camera's flash with the ambient light around the user, reports 9 To 5 Mac.

However, a difference can be seen between the units 12 megapixel shooter. While cameras on both smartphones are capable of 4k video recording, the iPhone 6s is not equipped with optical image stabilization like the 6s Plus. Sample shots from both devices do show high quality images, but the shots taken by the 6s Plus' camera is slightly better than the shots taken by its smaller sibling.

In terms of battery life, the 6s Plus trumps the iPhone 6s. The 6s Plus' battery has 24 hours worth of 3G talking time compared to only 14 hours of talking time on the 6s. However, Digital Trends notes that the 6s Plus' battery might drain just as fast as its smaller counterpart, due to app and game usage. So in the end the battery life is about the same for both units.

So, which phone is the better buy? There may only be slight differences between the units, and the decision might boil down to the camera and screen size.

For consumers who want to get the most out of Apple's new and improved camera, they cannot go wrong with the iPhone 6s Plus. For any standard user however, the camera on the iPhone 6s is more than capable.

On the other hand, for people who love big screens, the 6s Plus is the way to go. However, for more portability the 6s is the phone of choice.
