Looking for a solid sub for All-Star shooting guard Dwyane Wade, the Miami Heat are reportedly eyeing a trade that would give them Philadelphia 76ers swingman Evan Turner, a league source disclosed last weekend.

Despite falling behind the Indiana Pacers for Eastern Conference supremacy this regular season, the Heat remain a pretty good championship-contending team with four-time NBA MVP LeBron James leading the way in almost all statistical categories.

However, the Heat front office is aware that they need to add another key piece on their roster to give them a better chance at defending their turf during the playoffs. With Wade still struggling with his bothersome knee, the Heat might be brewing a trade to address the gaping hole in their lineup.

Several weeks ago, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst reported that the Heat were pushing hard to strike gold on the trading floor.

"With Dwyane Wade missing numerous games as he manages knee issues, the Miami Heat have recently started trade talks looking for backcourt help," multiple sources told ESPN.

Turner Going To The Heat

With general manager Sam Hinkie snubbing the chance to lock in Turner before he tests free agency this coming summer, the Sixers seem pretty set about their future without the former Ohio State Buckeyes standout. Hence, Turner is vulnerable to trade talks this season.

One possible trade scenario being proposed is Turner going to the Heat in exchange for the team's first round NBA draft pick and a veteran like Udonis Haslem. Hinkie has been coveting first-rounder in next year's deep draft while the inclusion of Haslem will give the team's young core someone to rely on as an experienced player in the league.

"Could he [Turner] join LeBron James and the Heat, in desperate need for another scoring option with Dwyane Wade's status in constant jeopardy and Chris Bosh playing in a fog,? Marks stated on Sheridan Hoops. "Perhaps, since Miami has the one thing Hinkie values most: A potential first-round pick in the rich 2014 draft."

"The fact that it happens to be Philadelphia's own - dealt to the Heat in 2012 by his predecessor, Rod Thorn, for the rights to No. 27 pick Arnett Moultrie - is an irony that can't be ignored. Thorn did his diligence protecting his team, ensuring the pick doesn;t go to the Heat until the Sixers make the playoffs. If that doesn't happen in 2014 or 2015, the owed first-rounder converts to a pair of second-rounders," he added.

On the other hand, Turner will give the Heat another valuable player off the bench and someone capable of filling the void when Wade sits out due to injury this season.
