Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are expecting their first child.
The news was confirmed by the "Gotham" stars' representatives to Us Weekly. Baccarin, 36, and McKenzie, 37, portray Dr. Leslie Thompkins and Detective Jim Gordon, respectively, in Fox's crime-drama series. Their characters are also dating and living together in the show.
Baccarin and McKenzie attended the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 20, together, the news outlet noted.
This is the first child for McKenzie and the second for Baccarin, who has a nearly two-year-old son named Julius with her ex-husband, Austin Chick, Us Weekly wrote. TMZ reported that the Brazilian actress filed for divorce back in July, with court documents filed on Thursday in New York City demanding for full custody.
According to TMZ, the former couple will split joint custody. Baccarin's attorney Samantha Spector told the news outlet that "Chick will still be able to visit his son once a month for 8 days, but he has to give a 15-day-notice before making a trip."
"Chick will be able to bring his son back to LA every two months for an 8 day visit. We're told Baccarin will have to foot the travel expenses, but only has to pay for coach seats, no first class," TMZ further wrote.
'Gotham' to Showcase More Villains in Season 2
"Gotham" showrunner Bruno Heller recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the show's second season, which premiered this week, will be scarier than its predecessor. Season 1 wrapped in May of this year.
"The first season was very much old-school Gotham, run by mobsters and the mafia," Heller told The Hollywood Reporter. "What we're seeing this year is the transformation of the underworld from that conventional underworld to a grotesque, larger-than-life underworld that eventually takes over Gotham and requires the creation of Batman."
He further explained, "That was always the plan - when you're telling a story that everyone knows, and which leads to this epochal event, the birth of Batman, you have to build to something. Every season of this show will have to be bigger, and more spectacular, and more scary than the last season."
Season 2 will feature three new characters aimed to make things interesting between good and evil. Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his sister Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) are set to control Gotham City, while new series regular Michael Chiklis will play GCPD's Capt. Nathaniel Barnes, Gordon's latest ally, The Hollywood Reporter wrote.
Speaking about Season 2's difference from Season 1, Heller said that the second series will tell "fewer stories, and in greater depth," as opposed to its predecessor where too many narratives are introduced at the same time, the news outlet noted.
"Gotham" airs Monday at 8PM on Fox.
