'Scream Queens' Episode 1 Recap & Review: Clues to the Killer

The satirical charm of Ryan Murphy's "Scream Queens" is undeniable. Its "AHS" meets "Heathers" murder mystery story is straight out of a 90s slasher film with deliberately offensive jokes in between. There have already been deaths in the series 2-hour premiere (Spoilers!) and its satire really hits home (because texting and tweeting are normal, even in emergencies and tragedies).

But the big questions remains: who is the killer behind the devil's mask? Here are some possibilities:

1) Emma Roberts's Chanel Oberlin - the sorority president is mean and rich, and she is not one to let anyone cross her. She was already seen doing horrific things -- the almost certain murder of the previous Kappa Kappa Tau president, and the prank that went awry when she shoved their maid, Ms. Bean's face in the fryer. She's the only one who saw the killer in her room, so she could have made it up.

2) Jamie Lynn Curtis's Dean Munsch - the university dean hates the Greek system, and she hates Chanel's guts. Also, she was the one who helped cover up the Kappa's 1995 death. But most of all, she's very certain that Grace will not be touched by the killer.

3) Abigail Breslin's Chanel #5 - io9 noted that Breslin is an Oscar nominee, so she can't be given a sideline role in the series, which means that she could be given a major role -- as a killer. But if the list is based entirely on Breslin's character on the show, she's the minion that seems most likely to snap and she obviously hates Chanel #1. Also, she's been very clear that she won't stand for having a gay dude (Nick Jonas's Boone) in the sorority.

Vanity Fair noted that the charm of the latest Ryan Murphy production may be in its satirical take to pop culture, with mean girls, mysteries, and a little something-something for everyone ('Waterfall' is so the jam in the 90s).

It has also been reported by Entertainment Weekly that despite the so-so ratings, "Scream Queens" made a buzz on Twitter, and was the most talked about the program last Tuesday. But with two deaths in the first hour alone, the show is definitely not one to think twice about kicking a star to the curb.

What did you think of "Scream Queens" si far and do you already have a suspect for the Devil Killer in mind?
