New Nexus smartphones could be released in Google's upcoming event.

On Friday, Google sent invitations for a press event to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in San Francisco, California. The company didn't provide any additional info about whether a new mobile device will be unveiled, but sources told CNET that Google is gearing up to launch two versions of the Nexus smartphone: a large variant made by Huawei and a smaller model developed by LG called the Nexus 5X.

According to CNET, both of these devices will run using Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There are also speculations that the handsets will be equipped with the new version of the Google Chromecast.

Nexus 5X Design & Display

LG's Nexus 5X is said to come with a 5.2-inch display full HD (1080p) panel, CNET wrote. Korean website underKG.co.kr shared the alleged design of the device, which features a mint tennis court color variant, Android Pit reported. The photos from the Korean website featured the handset's front camera at the bottom right of the top speaker.

Twitter user @OnLeaks also posted a case render of the Nexus 5X, which bears resemblance to the Korean website's design. The render shows the device measuring at 146.9 x 72.9 x 8/9.8mm and with black and white color variants. Android Pit said that there are also speculations about a front-facing stereo speakers on the Nexus 5X's final design.

Nexus 5X Other Specs

The Nexus 5X will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 and 3GB of RAM, Android Pit claimed. It is also said to have two versions: one with 16GB of internal storage and another variant with 32GB memory capacity.

As for its camera, the smartphone is expected to have a 12.5-megapixel primary shooter and a 5-megapixel front one for taking selfies, Android Pit added. Other specs include a USB Type C port, a 2700mAh battery, NFC, and the Android Pay service, Neurogadget listed.

Gizmo China claimed that the handset may have a MediaTek connectivity chipset, a rear power button with integrated fingerprint scanner, and front-facing speakers.

A report from Android Police revealed that the Nexus line will have an extended warranty program similar to AppleCare or the other ones sold by retailers. References for something called "Nexus Protect" have sprouted on Google Store listings.

Nexus 5X Price

The 16GB variant of the new Nexus 5X is said to cost $399, while the 32GB model will probably be purchased for 100 dollars more, Neurogadget estimated. Android Pit claimed that the device will be available for pre-order starting on Oct. 13.
